   This was me at my heaviest weight of 310 lbs. As one person said, “man, you were big, but at least you looked happy”. In actuality I was not happy! I was miserable and unhappy with life so every chance I got, I drowned my sorrows in (you guessed it) FOOD! I love to eat anything and everything from A to Z. You name it and I probably would not pass it up (with the exception of chitterlings, ugh!).

   One day I finally decided to make a serious attempt to lose weight. I tried everything, and I mean everything, on the market. I used pills, powders, stuff that was suppose to gel in your stomach to make you feel full, eating 6 small meals a day and the list goes on. Needless to say, all of this “effort” I was putting forth was not making one bit of difference on the scale! So I finally decided to get a personal trainer and though I lost a few pounds after months of working out, I was still the “big man”.

   So life went on and I just accepted what I had become and was content in my fatness. I was used to shopping in the Big & Tall store by now and became accustom to searching for 3XL and up shirts and 46W pants. I even incorporated my size into my stage name – Sterling Anthony “The Big S.A.” Then I came across an article titled “POUNDS AND INCHES - A NEW APPROACH TO OBESITY” by A.T.W. SIMEONS, M.D. and it changed my life! I found out that it was impossible for me to ever lose weight because I didn’t understand how food and my body worked. From this point on things would never be the same . . .

   This is me holding up a pair of my favorite pair of jeans after my first few rounds on the ThinNow program. I can actually fit both of my legs in one leg of these pants! I’m currently 6 lbs. away from losing 100 lbs. and I’m feeling better than ever. My doctor is amazed at my results. She actually took my blood pressure 3 times because she could not believe what she was seeing during my last visit.

   I come from a family plagued with hypertension, diabetes and cancer but now with this program I am living a healthier life. If I can do this, you can do it too! Who created the hCG Diet Protocol?

The hCG diet protocol was created in the 1950s by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons, a British Endocrinologist. Before developing the hCG protocol, Dr. Simeons was renowned for his research of tropical diseases.

While working with pregnant women in India, Dr. Simeons discovered that malnourished women were delivering healthy babies.  After extensive research, he found that the hCG hormone was responsible for accessing stored fat as a source of energy.  Many years and case studies later, Dr. Simeons' hCG protocol became one of the most popular weight loss methods in Europe.

What is the hCG Diet Protocol?

The hCG Diet Protocol is a method of rapid weight loss that includes the combination of tiny daily doses of the hCG hormone with a specific and low calorie eating plan. This weight loss phase is known as VLCD (very low calorie diet) and you will follow it for 21 to 60 days using sublingual hCG drops.

This is immediately followed by six weeks of maintenance, which allows your body to rest and re-learn how to efficiently burn calories at it's new metabolic rate as foods are reintroduced. What is hCG?

hCG is the natural hormone known as Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, which consists of 244 amino acids. One of the functions of this hormone, produced during pregnancy, is to signal for the release of mom's stored fat to use as fuel for the growing baby when there is a lack of incoming calories.

During the hCG protocol, small daily doses of the hCG hormone trigger your hypothalamus gland to release this "abnormal" fat, without muscle loss, until your body is depleted of its excess fat stores.  As this fat is metabolized, upwards of 2000 calories per day are released into your bloodstream for use as fuel. This allows for the dramatic reduction of incoming calories without fatigue, hunger, or weakness.

Why does the hCG Diet work?

Dr. Simeons used the hCG diet protocol as a cure for obesity, which he defined as a condition where the body stores calories as fat instead of burning them as fuel - a result of continual overeating and dieting over time.

The hCG diet is designed to deplete the body's excess fat stores and help reset the body's metabolism so that it burns excess calories for fuel rather than storing them as fat.

When hCG is taken as directed and combined with an eating plan of specific food and limited calories, it works very well for men and women who want to achieve dramatic weight loss in a short period of time.

How much weight can you lose on the hCG Diet?

Results tend to vary from person to person, from male to female, and the amount of stored fat to be burned. Typical results are an average daily weight loss of 0.5 to 0.75 pounds for women and 0.75 to 1.0 pounds for men.

You will experience quick weight loss in the first two weeks, but at the end of VLCD your daily average should be in that range.  This means in a 30-day diet, women typically drop 15 to 22 pounds, but some lose as many as 30 pounds.  Men are usually in the range of 22 to 30 pounds, sometimes up to 35 pounds.

Please don't buy into the hype from others that you will lose a pound or more a day. That simply is not true for most people. Your expectations about a diet should be realistic because there's nothing more devastating to a dieter than falling short of expectations.
